This lamp operates with high voltage on its terminals that remain on after the power is turned off due to a charged capacitor in the power supply. To avoid electrical shock, do not touch any exposed metallic tube part or electrical connection unless the tube is disconnected from the power supply. This lamp emits short wave ultraviolet radiation that can be harmful to human eyes or unprotected skin. Lamp operation may be accompanied by sparking at switches, relays and socket contacts, and corona discharge or flashovers from the high voltage circuits. In atmospheres containing explosive dust or vapors, use equipment designed specifically for such operation. The operation of this lamp with fingerprints or grease on the surface may cause devitrification of the quartz. If the quartz becomes dirty or has been touched, clean by washing first with a swab moistened with pure acetone and then with another swab wetted with distilled water. Dry carefully with a clean cloth or cotton. Operation of this lamp at energy input levels exceeding the manufacturer's rating, or failure to observe the above precautions, may result in damage for which the lamp manufacturer cannot be responsible. |
