You have the option of extending lamp life by either lowering the voltage to the fixtures or by using an extended life lamp. Some lamp types have an alternate extended life version that is nothing more than the same lamp in a higher rated voltage. For example, an ENH lamp is rated at 120V and lasts 175 hours, while the extended life version, an ENH-5, is rated at 125V and lasts 350 hours when used with 120V power. The trick is that the actual applied voltage is less than the rated voltage, which extends the life. Not all lamps come in a long life version.

Slide cube projectors use one of two types of bulbs. One is tubular with ceramic endcaps and a metal base; the other has a faceted reflector. The tubular one is a CBA bulb. There are two compatible bulbs that can be used in projectors that use the reflector lamps. An ELH bulb is brighter and cheaper; an ENH bulb lasts longer but is more expensive and produces less light.
