This email exchange was followed by a letter from Al's attorney, Nabih Ayad, that is not cited as confidential. They are demanding that we not offer for sale the Osram lamps for the Envisiontec equipment. I have now removed the shopping carts from this page and for the reasons below no longer promote these lamps for this application.

They claim that the lamps they sell from Osram are special and that using the same part number Osram lamps purchased from vendors other than Envisiontec can explode causing substantial damage to equipment. My technical experience tells me that, because of the way the Osram lamps are designed, this is not possible. I offered to remove the listings if they would provide proof from Osram that they have special lamps or proof that an Osram lamp purchased from us or another vendor has damaged equipment. If Envisiontec's statements are true we would never recommend the products. They declined to provide any proof and just demand that we discontinue offering the lamps as replacements for their equipment or they will bring legal action against us.

Our reason for offering the products is simple. If Osram makes a lamp with different specifications they will use a different part number. We know we are selling the exact same lamps as our customers had in their equipment. We discovered that these lamps are correct for this equipment by working with customers who found us using Osram lamp information in an online search. These lamps are used in many applications beside Envisiontec equipment. We carried the lamps before we discovered they are the lamps being used by Envisiontec. Once we discovered what equipment the lamps fit we added the Envisiontec cross reference listing so other customers with the same equipment using the same lamp could also purchase the lamps from us.

This is a relatively small market and we make very little money on lamps sold for Envisiontec equipment. It is not cost effective for us to fight a legal battle. Just hiring an attorney would cost us more than all of the profit we have ever made and will likely ever make selling these lamps for this purpose. Based on customer response this is not true for Envisiontec. If you are an Envisiontec customer who has purchased replacement lamps from Envisiontec you know exactly what I am saying.

I am sorry that we are no longer promoting these lamps for Envisiontec, Inc. equipment. I hope you understand that, right or wrong, we cannot cost justify fighting this legal battle. We still stock the lamps for use in other applications.
